Description:

The Fairfax County Park Authority issues more than 800 procurement cards to select employees to allow for quick purchases of operational goods. Spread throughout the county's 400 square miles, park employees were responsible for physically delivering expense reports and back-up documentation to the headquarters office weekly. This process could result in a loss of two or more work hours weekly for many employees. The E-Submission project focused on developing a MS Access application to collect expense information, flag specialty transactions, upload back-up documentation, and allow for central review and approval without the need for a weekly trip to the home office. This project required coordination between Park Authority Finance and Procurement branches, IT staff, and the county's overarching Internal Audit Office.
